Terms of Service
Last updated: January 29, 2024
Effective date: January 29, 2024
1. Acceptance of Terms
Welcome to Glynto ("we," "our," or "us"). By accessing or using our personal finance management service ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Glynto. Please read them carefully. By creating an account or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms.
Important: Our Service is currently in early access beta and is free to use. When we introduce paid subscription tiers, we will notify you at least 60 days in advance, and early access users will receive exclusive pricing benefits.
2. Description of Service
Glynto is a web-based personal finance management platform that helps you:
- Track net worth across multiple currencies with live exchange rates
- Manage investment portfolios (stocks, ETFs) with sophisticated cost basis tracking (ACB for Canada, LOTS for US)
- Organize transactions with CSV import capabilities and categorization
- Monitor reimbursements for business expenses, loans, and insurance claims
- Generate financial reports and analytics across multiple accounts and currencies
- Budgetting and income allocation
The Service is provided "as is" and we reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time with or without notice.
3. Eligibility and Account Registration
3.1 Age Requirement
You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the European Economic Area) to use the Service. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these age requirements.
3.2 Account Creation
To use certain features, you must create an account by providing:
- A valid email address

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update this information as necessary. Providing false or misleading information may result in account termination.
3.4 Account Security
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- All activities that occur under your account
- Notifying us immediately at security@glynto.com of any unauthorized access or security breach
We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your account credentials.
3.5 One Account Per Person
You may only create one account per email address. Creating multiple accounts to abuse features, evade restrictions, or circumvent limitations is prohibited and could result the suspension of your account/s.
4. Early Access Beta and Pricing
4.1 Current Beta Status
Glynto is currently in early access beta. All features are free to use while we build and improve the Service with input from users like you. There are no usage limits, payment requirements, or feature restrictions during beta.
4.2 Future Paid Tiers
We plan to introduce paid subscription tiers in the future. When we do:
- We will provide at least 60 days' advance notice to all users
- We will clearly communicate pricing, features, and limits for each tier
- Early access users (anyone who signs up during beta) will receive exclusive pricing benefits (significant discounts or free access to premium features)
- You will have the option to continue using a generous free tier or upgrade to a paid plan
4.3 Early Adopter Benefits
As an early access user, you will be eligible for one or more of the following benefits when paid tiers launch:
- Lifetime discount
- Free access to Pro or Premium features
- Extended free trial period
We haven't finalized the exact structure yet, but early adopters will receive significantly better pricing than new users who join after paid tiers launch.
5. Subscription and Payments
Coming soon
5.1 Subscription Plans
Coming soon
5.2 Payment Processing
Payments will be processed securely through Stripe, Inc., a certified PCI-DSS Level 1 Service Provider. By subscribing to a paid plan, you authorize Stripe to charge your payment method for:
- Initial subscription fees
- Recurring subscription fees (monthly or annually)
- Any applicable taxes
Your payment information is collected and stored by Stripe, not by Glynto. We never see or access your full credit card number. Stripe's use of your payment information is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.
5.3 Billing Cycles
Subscriptions will be billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or annually, depending on your selected plan). Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel.
5.4 Price Changes
We reserve the right to change subscription prices. We will provide at least 30 days' notice of price increases to active subscribers. Price changes will not affect your current billing period—they will take effect at your next renewal.
5.5 Plan Changes and Upgrades
You may upgrade or downgrade your subscription plan at any time from your account settings:
- Upgrades: Take effect immediately. You will be charged a prorated amount for the remainder of your current billing period.
- Downgrades: Take effect at the end of your current billing period. You will retain access to your current plan's features until then.
5.6 Refund Policy
When paid tiers launch, we will offer:
- 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee: If you are not satisfied with a paid subscription within the first 30 days, contact us at support@glynto.com for a full refund.
- No Refunds for Partial Months: After the 30-day guarantee period, subscription fees are non-refundable. If you cancel, you retain access until the end of your current billing period, but we do not provide prorated refunds.
We may grant refunds at our discretion for exceptional circumstances (e.g., technical issues preventing Service access, billing errors).
5.7 Cancellation
You may cancel your paid subscription at any time from your account settings. Upon cancellation:
- Your subscription will remain active until the end of your current billing period
- You will not be charged for subsequent billing periods
- You may downgrade to the free tier (if available) or delete your account entirely
- Your data will be retained according to our Privacy Policy
5.8 Free Tier
We plan to maintain a generous free tier even after introducing paid plans. The free tier will have some limitations (e.g., number of accounts, transaction volume, or advanced features), but will remain usable for many users.
Early access users who do not wish to subscribe to a paid plan will be able to continue using the free tier.
6. Third-Party Services
6.1 Plaid (Bank Account Connections)
You will have the option to connect your financial accounts using Plaid Technologies, Inc. ("Plaid"). By using Plaid:
- You authorize Plaid to access your financial institution accounts on a read-only basis
- You provide your financial institution credentials directly to Plaid, not to Glynto (we never collect or see your bank credentials)
- You grant us permission to retrieve transaction data, account balances, and account information from Plaid
- You acknowledge that your use of Plaid is subject to Plaid's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
Disconnecting Plaid: You may disconnect your bank accounts from Plaid at any time from your account settings. When you disconnect, we will stop fetching new data, but historical data already imported will remain in your account unless you delete it manually.
Plaid Data Use: Plaid collects and processes your financial data independently. We have no control over Plaid's data practices. Please review Plaid's Privacy Policy for details.
6.2 Market Data Providers
We use third-party services to fetch real-time security prices for your investment holdings. We only share security symbols (e.g., "AAPL," "TSLA") with these providers—not your personal information or holdings quantities.

You may terminate your account at any time by:
- Navigating to your account settings

You agree to resolve disputes with us on an individual basis only. You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration, except where prohibited by law.
